The night I fell in love with wine.

Contributed by epic on Tuesday, 13th November 2012 @ 04:48:22 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

The room is dimly lit like the evening sun, complimenting the forest of Chardonnay bottles scattered across the kitchen counter tops. "Don't let me down" is played over and over as the Beatles flutter their way into the back of my head.

The kitchen table shows signs of a reckless night with empty wine glasses painting the scene the color of lost desire. I sit across from a gravitational force that is simplistically alluring with just a pair of eyes. I stare at seductive pools, cascading jet black hair and a smile that is so warm and welcoming that it reminds me of a tropical sea being parted in two.

I sit back eating the scenery, nourishing my eyes. I'm lost at the moment, stuck… suspended in time and space. The only thing that appears to matter is remembering this very moment.

I gaze with my fox eye, watching how the polka dots on her dress hug her frame. She is smiling, as if wanting to share a secret. I can see the next 60 years of my life flash before my eyes, but my heart attempts to tell me otherwise. It bares California like fault lines that map it's terrain like land mines scattered across a retired battle field. It throbs in my chest like a bomb waiting to go off.

My nerves want to stop me, but how can one resist a gorgeous master piece as she blinks then stares, blinks then stares, blinks and stares. Her eye lashes move like butterfly wings creating tsunamis. She’s dangerous.

She had me the moment that parabola formed across her face. There's something about her smile that captures my attention. I can't let go of this image. It's as if master and creator designed that very moment as a sign that maybe love is a whole lot closer than I think.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
