Tomorrow is Here to Stay

Contributed by Tanna on Sunday, 11th May 2003 @ 02:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

He shuffles through old memories
Like a time worn deck of cards
Setting aside the happy times
It's the painful he'll regard

Losing himself in thought
Immersed in retrospect
A normally vital man
Acquires a flat effect

Empty inside and torn apart
His tears, they fall like rain
Resting his weary head in his hands
He can't absorb this pain

He's like a blind man without guidance
A deaf man without sight
These images have clouded his defenses
Slipped in like a thief in the night

Spiraling downward in remembrance
This journey through time is perverse
He'd do anything to eradicate the memories
And slam this journey into reverse

He sees the world through bitter eyes
He's now angry, vengeful and cold
Healthy in body, young in years
His soul feels shriveled and old

His feet are torn and bloodied
From the walk of shame he's made
To give up now and forfeit his life
No higher price could be paid

He will open his eyes to see another morning
He will rise to face another day
He can't give up, he won't give in
For tomorrow is here to stay.
