White Sea witch as ghostly apparition,
Appears before me,
Head bowed.
Iridescent mane flowing as she
Commands the elements
She hides her distinguishing features,
The fuel of fables seen in mariners eyes as it ignites fear.
Eyes of crystal ,hypnotic stare, unleashing the forces of Nature from
Arms outstretched in sacrificial abandonment, piercing my soul, demanding my
Supplication, raising the waves into walls, crushing vessels, while sailors are sent
to their wretched end pleading , a tormented force
Venting her fury.
Beneath her a mirror, distorted reflections of beautifully
Crafted galleons drowned by her whispers, cast to the darkness by her fury and
Left to create graveyards of her wrath,
At their demise, she almost smiles!
By night she is the moon’s reflection, by day the glimpse of the after life,
To all a curse, and yet like mysteries she draws
Them towards her, teasing them with her shadow, with her innocence
her warmth and beauty, a mask to protect a viral heart waiting to
Inject poison into
the cell of every living creature, to conquer and destroy.
The tip of every talon pointing to the path of another victim
Before haunting still waters with mournful tones,
As a lost girl crying.
As a woman grieving.
She is deception incarnate!
And I like many am defenceless
She looks up
To reveal
Bones, a
Necklace,
A declaration ,of
My destiny!

A spine-chilling description of evil. Marvellously done ! Choice of words and form - perfection.
Splended!
Blessings

Hi A,
''Wrath hath no fury like a woman scorned!''
I recall many years ago when I was a happy-go-lucky
Royal Navy rating, caring not a jot about anything other than ......... (?)
and when asked in the morning ''How was it
for you?'' and replying ''On the richter scale,
about 6, but not enough to keep me awake''
and then feeling pretty poorly for the next
couple of weeks afterwards, and am sure her
name was Beneficia or Venefica or something
like that!
Nice one, Anna. Enjoyed it immensely and a
lesson to all would-be suitors.

This piece is chock full of mood and atmosphere, however, I think I would call this a prose poem, and believe it would be a good deal more effective if , in fact, it were written out like a prose piece, rather than broken up into lines. good work! |
