In October

Contributed by Savannah1085 on Thursday, 18th October 2012 @ 09:52:21 AM in AEST
Topic: abstract

In October
I gaze at you with teary eyes
Something in you I despise
We used to be so close
Now that door is forever closed.

In October
I'll be the one to lock it
Lock you away, no key in the pocket
Away go the old laughs and
In come the new.

In October
I have changed
Show the world I'm rearranged
Show the world I am new
I can spell 'me' without 'you.'
In October

Yesterday I was jester
Today I am King
The dove of hope
Brought forth life's ring
In October.

Marry freedom they all say
Freedom is the way to play
Regulations counteract
In October
Understudy becomes one-act

Promises buried in the
Confusion Graveyard
Along with pictures of you
And my good memories
All washed away
In October

There's a side to every story
Happy, sad
Love is something no one describes
Another thing buried in the Graveyard
Along with you.

October was yesterday,
Tomorrow is November
Stuck in the middle of the twister...
Eye of the storm
Calm...
Not in October

Back in the hurricane
of October confusion
Winds whipping lies in your face
Stripping you of your identity
I thought it was over...
Not in October

Inner feelings are fighting you
Wanting to be free, too
Reaching out when I'm reaching in
To keep them away from reality
It's not over
Not in October

Today is I-don't-know-about-this
and I-don't-think-I-can's
In November
The fight isn't over

Snow of regret falls in
Shades of purple and blue
October is over,
Old becomes older
And older becomes new

I see you in the distance
Holding that key I
Threw away in time
I locked you inside
But...
In November...
Maybe it's time I set you free

The freedoms I had
Were not long lasting
Hardly free at all
I stare at you with teary eyes...
What was it I despised...?

Inner feelings bursting out
Fireworks of a broken heart healed
October was yesterday,
Now it's today
I grab your hand
With nothing to lose
In October.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
