Every Day I Am Thankful

Contributed by waynster on Monday, 15th October 2012 @ 12:11:12 PM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

Living in two worlds
no sense of reality of either one
Just being alive is a great feeling
I have to say my travels in this world have been fun

Every day I am thankful
much more than anyone could possibly know
I still have not done and seen everything
I still have a ways to go

Growing from a child
Into this stage of being a full grown man
I made decisions in life
without even having a plan

I started with no direction
making a rash decision to change what I was
I had nothing and nowhere to go
just hanging out drinking beer for a buzz

It has been several years
I look back and look at everything I have done
Life was quite a challenge
but by not giving up, I have won

The message I want you to get
from this poem that I write
Life can be very challenging
don’t give up, give it a fight

There will be
many, many ups and downs
There will be angry and happy people
that will have smiles or frowns

Think to yourself
control how you react
You will find your way through it all
that is a fact

If you’re engaged in a life situation
where direction is not what you see
Find a quiet place to think and open your mind
all of your worldly problems will soon flee

As a grown man
no longer a child
The older I get
more seemingly life is mild

Even though I live in two worlds
both are in Europe and quite nice
It was a decision I made
I am happy with my decision and sacrifice

All my blessings are counted
each and every day
If I could turn back the hands of time
I wouldn’t do it over, any other way.

An absolutely astounding poem, indeed (a little alliteration there :]) It's true that we should be thankful and live content in all circumstances, as the apostle Paul states. Take care and God bless,
Deidra
