The song inside.

Contributed by iodinelove on Thursday, 11th October 2012 @ 12:24:22 PM in AEST
Topic: abstract

Of the contours of my heart
No foreign vessels assail the bulwarks
No tender airs sweep through the atria
The songs of love play for the settling dust
To echo the inclement howl of fear
That mocks the simple treasures locked inside

Open flesh and look inside
See the inculpable, corpulent heart
See the open cavity, free of fear
See the debris of primordial bulwarks
Broken by time, the memory of dust
Left at the collapse of the atria

For how gorged the atria
With pain and pleasure that they burst inside!
Desire and lust, through the shadows and dust
Of ancient treasures, inundate the heart
So that no armaments, moats, or bulwarks
Might stand against the encompassing fear

What light might break through that fear?
Sweet waters spilling from the atria
A tender drum to brace the bulwarks
To nurture the seed growing deep inside
To spring from the dark desires of the heart
Moonlight in the garden, a settling dust

In time, we all drink of dust
We all lie breathless, dying, and in fear
Fallen in the final cleft of the heart
Awaiting the fall of the atria
The blood-letting of all the grief inside
That constantly beats against the bulwarks

I hide behind those bulwarks
And tremble at the tumbling of dust
For beyond the darkness; what lay inside,
Entreats the machinations of my fear
And reverberates through the atria
To taper the shuddering of my heart

The bulwarks fall, and in their stead comes fear
The dust of love stills in the atria
The song inside, the triumph of the heart
