Chants in the dark

Contributed by shelby on Tuesday, 9th October 2012 @ 10:42:03 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

The sun has set again
city noise not much wind
the lights are all on outside
yet this big city seems so dark.

Walking across dark asphalt
shoes stepping on drying leaves.
Not real cold but I get a shiver
turn around, nothing but darkness behind me.

Maybe my imagination
giving way to late night frustration
I swear I heard a voice behind me
maybe it is a city night zombie??

I wished the moon was full and bright
to cast some shine spread extra light.
I swear I hear footsteps behind me
maybe it's a ghost chasing me
(from the nearby cemetery??)

Are you kidding me??
Why am I scared?
I love this time of year
Halloween my favorite Holiday friend.

My heart is fluttering inside my chest
I kind of want to run
but I bet they would get me I guess.
I hear them chanting in the dark
faces I cannot see but their voices haunting me.

Maybe I'll turn around and go back home
I feel I feel the ghosts, zombies and monsters
on on their October roam
worse yet, I hear their chants in the dark...

to be continued

Now, now Michelle. (shakes stern finger at you) They're called corporeal challenged lifeforms. :p

I always love LOVE love your Halloween poems. This was very enjoyable.

I look forward to more.

Ghosts may be there I also feel
My father-in-law passed away
When I held him while falling
His life ended on my hands

But, now, I have zero fear
As he was a generous soul
I confidently roam inside home
Believing he is there to protect.
