changing life

Contributed by thehotshotpoet on Tuesday, 25th September 2012 @ 09:27:37 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

I will not Die young
I'm finally past that stage
I grew up being Violent
full of meanness & full of Rage

it did not matter who I hurt
but never woman or a child
children to me are sacrit
& woman drove me wild

streetfighting was the game
without the knives & guns
back in the school of hardknox
where streetfighting first begun

true fighters used there hands & feet
well headbutts were kool too
we never would back down
our beliefs were very true

we stood up for the weeker one's
anytime or anywhere
whatever the gangs thought they were
we really didnt care

the threat of death meant nothing
our rivals would always Run away
stand up for your beliefs
that's still my motto to this very day

back then I still wrote
so everyone would know it
today I'm still proud of me
I'm the hot shot poet

my life has turned around
from what I was made of
still with a violent temper
finally finding what was love

it taught me things I never knew
like sharing all I had
then hearing the most precious words
that you're gonna be a dad

to watch your children grow
the hardest job I've had
is showing all the good
& hiding all the bad

but now & then they find my past
in my poems or my songs
& all that I can tell them
it's when my life went Really wrong

A sort of hero to so many
A faceless Icon in my life
but the violence seemed to melt away
the day I met my wife

I changed my life completely
writing poetry with a heart
if you want your words noticed
there is no better start

write of life's differences
if there felt your words will show it
for 35 years I've held my name
I'm The Hot Shot Poet

This was a riveting read for me, I enjoyed seeing your evolution as a person through this poem. Nice flow for the most part and you told your story very well. I feel like I was watching you grow up as I was reading this. Very nice writing!
