Who Or What Is My God

Contributed by MikeyB on Friday, 21st September 2012 @ 09:41:26 PM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

Who or what is my God
Who is it that I praise
How do I submit
When Submitting
Is an outright act of rebellion
Against my own flesh
Is it me that I worship
Now that I know the word
And have eaten of it’s content
Have I begin to worship my own knowledge
Because I have disregarded gold as my king
Do I now worship myself for being able to turn down
Such an unrighteous king
Who or What is my God???
Is it my poetry which I pour my heart into???
My notebook which I turn to whenever I feel distress
My pen Which drips word of encouragement when I’m down
After accepting God to be God have I reverted to my old ways
And sat my own self on the thrown
How could I when I know myself unworthy to be him
Even unworthy enough to stand in his presence
I lack the strength to turn down sin
But still I feel I should be King???
Who or what is my God???
Have I made him to be a criminal
For robbing me of my ignorance
Have I despised him for giving me freedom
When freedom is what I asked for
Have I made myself God in the world I created in my head
Given myself the title of Creator
Because I have the ability to create thought
And together with Eve make life
Do I worship God or me???
And if it is him
Why don’t I fully give my life to him
Even though I know he gave his life for me
Knowing God is God
And that he made me in the image of him
Do I seek to be him
Who or what is my God???

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
