Were you sent by the Graces,
held soft on a cloud,
from the temple of Venus
where beauty's unbowed;
or a fabulous realm
where a dream will come true
and returned to the dreamer
with garlands - and you?
Autumn's in splendour,
in crimson and gold,
and the last rose of Summer
will lonely grow old.
I fear not cold Winter
nor cower at its sting;
my shelter is Promise
for you are my Spring.
