R.I.P. Brother

He was an angel once, loving father and mum
But to the devil, the angel is always a beacon, a hum
All the things that he saw, which lead him on that downhill
All the pain disappeared as he popped each pill
Becoming addicted,
For once he was secure
And his heart was for once, not being tore
But still he burned with pain to his very core
If you saw this kid, he would always have that smile
If he wasn’t brought down he would have gone a mile
But another angel died today
As we sink to our knees, and beg and pray

Hendo, I want you back mate
All the promises of the future we made,
That was stripped away by fate
My best mate, how can I live without you
Why must god take those who are so honest and true

The heroin, I knew you were on it
I saw the change
Your eyes as they both turned into a black, emotionless pit
I warned you man, don’t meddle to far
You could’ve gone far, before you became a falling star
As you hugged me I could smell it in the air
And I felt inside, as my heart did tear

As I stand over your lifeless being
And these tears blur all I’m seeing
I swear I see you, for a second at least
But surely not, you have been laid to peace
And every time I look to the sky
I see your face, I see you in everything that I meet with eye

***** hell I’m speechless
Everything I say is useless
You’re gone, and I’m left here
And nothing can help, no blood or tear
No matter how much praying or begging I do
At the end of the day, you have gone through

All those people at your ceremony
The ones that spread *****, and made sure you were kept lonely
Acting like they give a ***** now
How can they do that, how?
After all the ***** they put you through
They sit here now and talk about you
Like ‘oh he was my mate, the best you will ever know’
When they have no memories at all to show
Just using his death, for attention
And as I watch, my heart beat rises with anger and tension
When I snap, what will happen?
My mental strength, this is sapping
The begging, the praying, the missing
And the hardest of all, the reminiscing

As I walked in your house I knew something was wrong
As I called out your name the pause was too long
I saw you there, lying on the floor
As I realised why you didn’t answer my call
The syringe was still piercing into your skin
Like the evidence, of a fatal sin
You were blue in the face, and cold, so cold
I wouldn’t stop, no I couldn’t stop CPR no matter how much I was told
It’s too late, he is dead
And all these demons entered into my head

Luke, you were too young to die
I loved you brother, that’s no lie
Never once did you let me down, sober or high
You did not know the limits; you pushed it over that line
But no matter what, I’ll never forget our time
I look to the stars every time I hear your name
All of us boys feel the same
Tonight there will be tears falling
And as the lighters are raised to the sky
Your name is what we will be calling
Rest easy up there; we will see you one day
Your name is across our heart to stay

Very sorry for your loss of a dear friend. Believe it or not, he is in a much better place. This poem you wrote is with so much feeling that shows memories and pain, but it also shows how much your friend meant to you. Please keep up writing poems as it will help you to relieve the pain. Hang in there and hold on to all of the good memories of your friend, i am sure he is by your side watching over you.

Take care

Wayne

Its a hard row and a hard thing to endure..... do each day one at a time..... thats what Im trying to do. Blessing and peace to your hurt soul.
