Haven't

Haven’t

Haven’t lost a baby
Well actually, I have.

Haven’t lost a live baby
Well actually, yes she was.

Haven’t lost a baby I have given birth to,
Well actually yes I did.

Haven’t felt the pains of her birth
Well actually yes I have.

Haven’t lost a baby that was fully formed
Well actually yes she was.

Haven’t felt the loss of an unborn baby
Well yes I have.

Haven’t known each day that she has not had life
Well yes I do.

Haven’t felt the loss of a child
Well yes I do.

Haven’t given her a name
Well yes I have

Alicia x

While obviously I cannot relate to actual child birth and the feeling of life growing inside of me I can at least relate to death of a loved one. This was incredibly sad.

My daughter's mom had a miscarriage and I have infrequently thought what that child may have been like.

My sister-in-law had two miscarriages and it affected her so badly they kept her in the hospital for a while after the second occurrence due to very bad depression.

However, on the positive sides of those stories came three beautiful daughters. They say God works in strange ways and this is definitely one of them.

Great writing as usual, Anna. I love the way you have an answer for each statement and am very sorry you were subjected to the loss.

Hi Anna,

A heart-wrenching experience for any woman
to go through, and also for her husband/partner.

My niece miscarried back in January, but
thankfully and by the grace of God she's now
3 months pregnant and all is going well.

Your poem is a beautiful emotional and tragic
exposure on the heartbreak of miscarriage.
Succinct and leaving no question unanswered,
except maybe ..... ''Why''

Tommy
