Pressure

Suicide

The pressure is constantly there
A bigger annoyance than fleas in the hair
Everyone applies it and I try not to care
It’s like a tightening vice on my head
Like when it’s been too long since my stomach was fed
Like walking the world in pain as a living dead
The pressure to do well or better yet, great
To make straight A’s, I stopped to contemplate
If I’m so good, why is everything I do too little and too late
It’s no wonder I think of death and suicide
When the pressure of life is applied
Knowing that peace for me is always denied
Figured if I had gashes in me
The pressure would be relieved
Left to float to another in this blissful yet chaotic sea
Guess I’ll be missed, oh well
The cracks were always there, they just finally broke the shell
But now I feel tranquil, like a single, soft chime of a bell

wow. this poem has great flow. I like the way you start off with a tiny bit humor and then build the the enormous pressure of which you write. But then you end with a tranquil chime, great stuff, the pressure is definitely there. |
