Sins Committed Lie Unspoken

You asked me about my sins.
It was just a normal conversation
Between the two of us,
Something that doesn't usually happen
Because I actively ignore you.
But once the topic came up,
You wouldn't let it go.
So I spoke:
"I have sins. I just don't talk to you about them."
You deny that I have any,
That I was
"Your perfect little girl"
And would never do anything wrong.
How "Wrong" you were.
I deny your words,
Reply with hidden,
Desperate earnestness,
That you don't know everything
Because I never told you anything.
So you ask me:
"What 'sins' have you committed then?"
I falter,
Unwilling to tell you,
My mother,
What it is I've done wrong;
All the things I've done wrong.
To change the subject,
I instead intervene:
"Will you tell me your sins?"
You falter,
Unwilling to tell me,
Your daughter,
What it is you've done wrong;
All the things you've done wrong.
"That's what I thought."

Truly an immaculate display of honesty. I really enjoyed the depth of reality possed by this passage. A difficult situation on both sides of the fence.
