A Fathers love

Contributed by thehotshotpoet on Friday, 24th August 2012 @ 06:47:05 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

something I've been missing
for so many years
threw a chilhood full of punishment
& ponds full of tears

I never knew my father
I fealt cheated in a way
but in my heart I knew he'd find me
& take me far away

I finally heard his voice
& the simple words he said
the simple words I love you
kept Running threw my head

he said that he was coming down
just to see his son
for the first time I was happy
like my life had just begun

with just two short weeks to go
I simply had no fear
then my mother came threw the door
her eye's were swelled with tears

she said son your dad's not coming
choking for the words to say
she walked up & hugged me
& said your father past away

I became so very angry
for what the world had done to me
it took years for me to find myself
from what I use to be

in my heart I knew he loved me
& to this day I have no doupt
it was the turning point in my life
to see what a dad was all about

I starve for that affection
of what I never had
the hardest thing I've ever dealt with
was never knowing dad

so for the one's of you in this world
who have a dad you think you hate
you need to say the words I love you
before it is to late

for when he's gone you will regret
the words you didnt say
I know for I have been there
& I regret it to this day

sharing something with my day is something special that no one can ever replace it... "LOVE" and for some people.. saying "i love you" is an easy thing to say but it's hard thing to do... nice and beautiful poetry...

A very beautiful and profoundly touching poem. Often it is too late to show due love to a father or another person, and then they are gone ad the regret is terrible for not having given more love while they lived.
Marvellously expressed
Thanks for sharing
Elizabeth
