Random Thoughts On Killing

Contributed by waynster on Wednesday, 15th August 2012 @ 06:54:29 AM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

What is it that makes me want to kill a bee?
Is it a killer instinct I have inside?
I now set here and ponder this thought,
do I have mixed up emotions that I hide?

Is it normal,
for people to want to kill ?
It does not matter if it’s an insect or a person,
does it give some people a thrill?

I proceed to ponder these thoughts,
wondering about the emotions behind it all.
Asking myself if it is necessary,
to kill a simple fly, that’s crawling on the wall.

Some insects are good,
others are sort of bad to have around.
Such as flies,
that land on feces, which might be lying on the ground.

My thoughts are merely sure,
the instinct to kill an insect is not quite the same.
As the instinct to take another human life,
as many people in this world do, it really is a shame!

There are soldiers, as I was one too,
that are trained to kill.
Not all soldiers that are trained,
gain that awful thrill.

There are some people,
that are born with an instinct to take a life.
They do it by hand or by gun,
or even by a knife.

There are many sick people in this world,
having no remorse for what they do.
They could care less if they take a life,
whether it be me or you.

Thoughts are sometimes funny,
as they run through a person’s head.
It makes you appreciate,
that you’re living and you are not dead.

I started out by thinking of a bee,
that was flying around me as I ate.
The poor thing has no idea,
that it has a certain fate.

The moral of this poem,
is about taking a life of any kind.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a soldier,
or just setting at home trying to unwind.

Everything that is living,
lives for a short period that’s for sure.
If you have an awful feeling to kill,
go seek medical help, as there is a cure.

I like your ponderings, Wayne. I think about stuff like that too. I know I don't like killing spiders but I do if I feel there is no other way to get rid of it. I generally try and run them off or put them outside because they like to eat insects.

As for the fly...KILL IT!!!!!! They're disgusting.

Bees are cool, they make honey, but I wouldn't want to share my sammich with them either. :)

Thanks for the good read.

Tim

Hah! Loved this poem, because you say what everyone thinks. Plus, its abstract enough for us to think about it ourselves, for a while. I heard that if you dream of killing someone, that it's not really crazy., though. It just means fustration at that someone. But then again, why do the killers always go after their nearest and dearest? Something to think about :-)
