Journey
Got on a train heading to London
First journey to Crewe, then change
On new train, packed to the rafters
Must walk up and down several times to find a seat
Tried my luck in first class
Result, nice seat and a nice lady to chat too
Underground, over ground, trains, trains, trains
Cramped and hot but on time
Long walk to venue
Pink fingered volunteers lead the way
Polite, well versed, helpful
Arrive at ExCel London in record time
Call home to say all is fine
Know my games can start
Ding, dong round one over, journey done

This was written very well. You captured the essence of traveling, the chaos, anticipation, and happiness of arrival. Good job. And I loved the effect of reading "trains, trains, trains", it was almost as if I was there. I hope you enjoyed your trip. |
