A shot in the dark, a punch from behind;
how my thoughts run though my mind.
Piercing its tired, empty shell;
Exposing my weaknesses, stressing me to hell.
It's all I can do to tread life's waters
“but why” I ask “..do I even bother?”
With my loves and cares that sprang up from before
I know there’s a reason, I just need to dig some more..
So tell me a story of your assorted past,
one in which will help me to stand fast.
Through the dark, dreary, and awful times of day
let me know that things will never stay this way.
For I am not as strong as one might think,
but entice a horse to water and even it will drink
Though gingerly it will always get its fill
I ask you only to reenergize my will.

This was great, I loved being able to feel what you were trying to get across. I loved the lines
"For I am not as strong as one might think,
but entice a horse to water and even it will drink"
It was a great metaphor.
I think that you might want to try to have the same amount of syllables in each rhyme, because there were a few times I stumbled.
But you have a really great thing going. |
