When

When

When once upon an illusion of time, flowing forward or backward, who cares
When down was up and in was out and rules were split like hairs

When once the moon was seen in the north to spin and spin about
When the minds of men was cleared at last and all the gods tossed out

When through the window there shine moonbeams bringing demons you can’t ignore
When the demons are dreams when you were younger when now becomes before

When the mind becomes so brittle that a whisper could shatter its mold
When your thoughts become uncluttered, and all your dreams unfold

When a heightened form of awareness eats away your mind
When you fall into paranoia, but catch yourself just in time

When you bite the bars of ignorance that hold you with hatred and rage
When you know with a grain of knowledge it would free you from their cage

When the mold begins to shatter and the cracks begin to show
When the illusion of time returns and throws you back to the fold

When the dreams melt into vapors and the rules are back as they were
When the clock goes off on the night stand and you rise and get ready for work
