Stranger In Our Town

Topic: StoryPoetry

Looking out the window of the store,
noticing a stranger dressed in white, walking into town.
Me and a few others went out see him,
listening to his stories about some man who died, wearing a crown.

He talked about how far he has traveled,
walking by foot all the way.
He said he has passed through many towns,
finding nowhere he really wanted to stay.

I was just a young boy
maybe about twelve years old.
The man kept on rambling,
about a crown made of thorns and not of gold.

At that time in my life,
i knew some things about church and God.
All I could keep thinking,
why was this man here, it is pretty odd.

He claimed to be Jesus,
then the stories he told started to ring a bell.
He kept on saying to us all,
if we don’t change our ways, we would go to hell.

The man was very thin,
looked like he had not eaten in more than a day.
We all offered him some food,
before he again went on his way.

A smile was on his face,
as he ate the food he got from us.
We asked him why he travels by walking,
wouldn’t he rather take a bus.

Calmly the man answered,
there is no other option; it is how it should be.
He really loved traveling to towns,
and meeting people like you and me.

He had real long hair,
i thought maybe he was on drugs of some sort.
He told us he was on a mission,
one he could not abort.

The man seemed very religious,
it seemed odd Jesus would be walking barefoot into our town.
None of us really believed him,
thinking he was just some kind of clown.

As young as I was,
i felt sorry for this poor dirty guy.
I remembered him telling his stories,
as I starred him straight in the eye.

The evening finally came,
the man rose to his feet saying it was time for him to go.
We gave him some extra food to take with,
where he would go next, we really didn’t know.

As he walked away,
we watched him walk down the road.
All I could really think was,
this man was really bold.

To give up all his worldly possessions,
and travel to spread the word of God.
This was something special,
but claiming to be Jesus, I thought was very odd.

The man disappeared in the distance,
never turning around to wave goodbye.
I guess we will never know
if he was truthful or did he tell us a lie.

Ultimately things are what you believe them to be, or at least they should be.
What this has taught me is that everyone has their own opinion but it is not always as clear as one is right and one is wrong.
Believe what you wish to believe and don't worry about anyone else is my motto

What you see and what you find,
will often puzzle the mind,

but what you think and what you feel,
are the only things that are real.

The poem is indeed touching the heart
Whether God exists or not, none knows
But, all are created by a man and woman
A mother is God in latter's full absence
A soul is living with no money, but prays
And talks about that mighty genius Jesus
God only can solve all World's great riddles
But, this poem is indeed moving my mind
I thank the poet and I will help strangers
May be, Jesus might have come in disguise.
