Daddy...i love you...do you love me..?

Contributed by Jilli_bean on Saturday, 10th May 2003 @ 10:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

It was sunday
her birthday
she was so excited.
finally!!!!
she was a big girl
well in daddy's eyes anyways
she loved her mom...
but come on ..her dad was her rock
she was ten
nothing could bring her down
she was with her little friends
at her little table
sitting in her little chair
opening her little presents
...they were just objects,
pretty
sparkley ...
objects
they were pointless in this ten year olds mind
she smiled a happy smile
although it was fake
..she had learned even though she was young...
it wasn't okay to show you were hurting
no matter how bad it was....
her dad had been drunk
he didnt mean to ...
She loved her dad
always had always will
he had been so strong for her
but that bruise on this ten year olds face ...didn't look to cute

OH MY GOD! Jillian.... wow! You know, it would probably be easier for me to understand why you wrote this and what is running through your head as you write this if my dad had been a drunk. But my dad is absoutely amazing, and my mom.... I could not ask for more. So you see... for once... I can't relate to this poem. And I am most greatful for this.

This poem is touching... to everyone that has been through this type of thing... they will enjoy it very much.

You told me once that poetry is emotion and that you must experience it to understand it. Well I understand this and yet I have NEVER had this happen to me. I love it, for what I read..... you know what I mean?

Anyway.... touching to those who have been through it...

Amy
