How Does Love Work?

How I am supposed to know how loves works?
How was I supposed to know that sometimes love hurts.
This girl is beautiful beyond my dreams.
But it still came apart at the seams.
I’d give her the world, but I’m not sure that’s enough.
I’d tell her I love her every day, but I’m not sure that’s enough.
I ask myself questions that no one has the answer to?
I made mistakes I didn’t know I was making, choices that I rue.
I want to get passed them though, this just doesn’t seem right.
I’m hoping one day, that someone can come along and shed some light.
I love the memories, but at the moment that’s all I’ve got.
We were once a straight piece of rope and now where a tangled knot.
This feeling is one I’ve never had, and the good still out ways the bad.
But that doesn’t mean the bad times still aren’t sending me mad.
Your waiting behind each thought, on the verge of becoming that thought.
Why can’t there be lessons on love, why can’t love be taught.

If you ever find out, pleeeeeeease let me know.... please . I'm going to be fifty-nine this year and still have never figured it out.
Just hang in there.
I especially liked this line:
We were once a straight piece of rope and now we're a tangled knot.
Thanks,
Tim |
