What did I Expect...

Contributed by vr2776 on Monday, 23rd July 2012 @ 09:10:46 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Who is around me now that
I'm sinking in the sand...
There is nothing around me
unstable I'm reaching out my hand...

I reach into the distance yet
the air is all that I feel...
What once I was certain of
I find now is not real...

Intimacy with the darkness
my fears and hurts come alive...
Nothing more than the sound of
my voice yet in the echoes it dies...

Trading sanity for fantasy
How I wish it was all true...
It seems so much better than
this, no one has a clue...

How can one say they understand
when a different patch they have
grown...
For the pain and tumbling of worlds
in my patch to them this is the
unknown...

Riding the waves with the wind
in my hair and on my face...
I wake up to find it all gone
its empty, gone without a trace...

I knew what to do I gave my speech
and needed no one then...
But now I cry and stand alone for
I dismissed them all back when...

I'm a big girl now, my own decisions
I have accomplished my goal...
What I didn’t see in my future
was this big gaping hole....

Emptiness that hurts to the core
of my innermost being...
As if the only comfort comes
from what caused my bleeding...

Compassion I find none as
im left to deal with the bed I have made...
The I told you so's and disgust
this is my serenade...

Support for hurt that was self inflicted
well I know not to expect that here...
I must look to a higher authority
for my healing this is clear...

I go to sleep in a pool of
tears that turn cold in the night...
tormented with the should of
and could of now who was right...

I whine no more about who I thought
would be there for real and not just in words...
Im a big girl and what doesnt kill me
makes me stronger this is what I have heard...

When all is said and done
I will be left standing with just me ...
So I better just suck it up
This is going to make me
who Im meant to be...
