On this very day, I celebrate America's independence.
None of this would have happened if it weren't for our descendants.
There was Adams and Franklin, just to name a few.
The ones who guided America past a huge break though.
Today, our nation's red, white, and blue flag stands tall.
To prove to others that they aren't capable of touching us at all.
The fireworks burst, leaving a crackle and sparkle in the air.
Outsiders could only watch with an astonishing glare.
But things end when the clock strikes 12 and the day is done.
The day we used to show people why we are number one.

The best advice I can give you is to write with your heart. Don't try to rhyme. Let things flow naturally. If you want to rhyme use a well known rhyme scheme such as the English or Italian sonnet. If your rhymes are forced your whole poem sounds contrived. You want to have a strong, clear voice. Lastly, accept that some of your poetry is bad. Even the best writers and poets have a pile of crap laying around somewhere. |
