The Storm

Contributed by waynster on Monday, 2nd July 2012 @ 02:19:21 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

The sky turns dark
as the clouds roll in.
Sunshine disappears
it’s about to rain again.

To some it seems scary
and to others it’s a beautiful thing.
To watch the lightening sparkle
and hear the thunder sing.

My dog lies beneath my feet
trembling terribly inside.
Staying very close
because in me he does confide.

A very loud rumble
coming from the dark coated sky.
My dog looks up at me
as if to ask why?

Thunderstorms for him
must be a horrible thing to hear.
I just keep on petting him
and say Jack, there is nothing to fear.

The rain drops fall
the lightening lights up the sky.
The thunder is loud
and lightening blinds the eye.

Afraid of these storms
i am not.
We usually get them
after the days are so hot.

The sky lightens up
the thunder goes away.
My dog Jack still trembles
but he will be okay.

Now that nature
has unleashed its aid.
For the grass, trees and flowers
the water was a bit delayed.

My dog is happy
that the storm passed on by.
I am happy
to have seen it with a naked eye.

Next time a storm
comes rumbling your way.
Remember to watch it and feel it
because for long it will not stay.

Reading this poem made me want to go and just let the rain splash on my face. We haven't had rain in so long in Tennessee that I wish this was me sitting on the porch listening to the thunder and lightning. Very well written.
