Healing Time

Contributed by soulsongs on Thursday, 28th June 2012 @ 05:20:16 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

My heart yearns amongst the clouds, in the same sense as the sea gull flutters in place against the perpetual winds over the frantic river, in search for a definitive resolve of its deepest wounds.

Healing time has done no such thing for wounds so deep, yet deepens them, forfeiting its meaning and relinquishing its ability only to leave eternal scars.

It is on paper that I surrender the pain in order to release it from the forefront of my life in the hopeful effort to unclutter my true being.

It is only on paper that I will ever re-visit these wounds and then they will not belong to me any longer as I will read them as if they belonged to someone else.

True healing comes not from time but from release.

Very, very true. I especially liked the last line. This poem is great, and it communicates my feelings as well, about writing being a release. Alot of people don't understand that- I have friends who consider it a waste of time, but anything that allows someone to show who they really are beneath the surface is definitely not a waste of time.
