Golden light carasses my face
again for the first time:
I am enveloped in a blanket of comfort
I close my eyes.
In front of my face, an angel smiles,
defining perfection.
My soul runs down my cheeks.
Outside my eyes, serenity taunts me.
My quivering hands provide a stigma
just in case I need one.
My once-gossamer heartstrings
have hardened and
a bundle of scars
provides the cadence for a wasted effort.
Pain, however incomprehensible,
always has a limit.
Everyone has a threshold
mine is high -
sometimes I thirst for pain;
to drive the ambivalence away
to drive the cold hatred away.
Hold on to love like you'd hold on to a bird;
if you hold on too tightly,
you will crush it...
but if you're not careful,
it'll fly away.
