O valence past from yonder candle lit
These days that steal my heart and steal my wit
The sounds that sing the song of peace are gone
And times revert to fly as birds with beaks
To let the sun rise on a world that reeks
From hence the metal birds with missles fly
To pound on nation's brow and blot their cry
Oh bitter darkened souls that smites dawn's face
From Heaven's faintest voice to deafened ears
With hatred darkness gleaming light erase
Alas how Earth has fallen into fear
Avast I sing for cheerful love and hope
The twists and ties that try souls like a rope
Oh! Crunch my vain thoughts, and rid my of Earth!
