Is this what we have come to now?
To live in a world with illusions of identity,
To create yourself in a false light,
Hoping others find you more interesting.
You now have your name followed by a number,
As if there weren’t enough of you already.
They are listing you by the thousands,
And you are now a system of technology.
Since when has it become such a social nightmare?
With suicides happening constantly,
Due to cyber-bullying from a robot to a robot.
Does this make us all robots?
These darkened days are worse than history,
Where it is not only our freedom at stake,
But also the only thing we believe to be in control of.
Is our Identity the last thing we take from ourselves?
We talk, we share and we make relationships.
That is what the technology has given us.
But who is to say this connecting will not lead to disaster?
“These violent delights have violent ends”
What will be left of us then?
Nothing. Our names remembered in data?
Our likes and dislikes remembered in paragraphs?
That will be all we are and we will be cyborgs.

hmmm... Well I am personally a supporter of any technology so long as it doesn't harm a person. (i wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the internet) However, I do think that people are becoming too detached, especially on the internet, and thus things such as cyber bullying and scammers appear. The problem is that there are no consequences for these people actions 90% of the time. Anyway... I honestly can't wait until we do find a way to make artificial organs and such and prolong our own lives. |

Good challenge for present-day society intoxicated with technology.
While technology has its good, it can also be devastating if abused. - alas - it is.
To balance profit and harm is the art.
Fine poem, tanks for sharing
