Nostalgic

Skin, pale.. Cracking with age.
Mind, faltering.. Memories evade.
Consumed by regrets and mistakes.
~Smiles slowly fade~
Soul, lost.. Along with hope.
Heart, battered.. All but broke.
Beauty eludes with nothing to hold.
~Smiles slowly fade~
Last of a dying breed.
Gentleman...
Too nice to believe.
So it leaves me to wonder, why do I promise to love her?
Am I stuck in the moment, or just going through the motions?

Goodness gracious, that first line could be me too.
Definitely the ponderings of a poet. Nicely done.
essentially9 hasn't been on for a long time...maybe years? Perhaps this will bring her out of the wood work.
