From my dreams

Contributed by Archie on Monday, 18th June 2012 @ 11:25:08 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I wish
that there was a place exclusion did not exist in
I see
and don't want to believe it
but the circles all have walled me in
'you can't be in this circle
cause you are not rich like us'
'you can't be in this circle
cause your skin's different from us'
I wish I could just blast all those circles from the land
and maybe then we'd have equality

I know
what I say is not possible
but I must still have this dream
Alone
cause I cause too much trouble
for just becoming me
We have lost so much vision
we think only of self
What difference can I make
when I'm put upon a shelf
cause I can not fill the mold that others make for me

So I cry and rage and return to my dream

There's a place I've heard of
where people have true love
and they see the value we all have

But alas the distance
is so far I'm thinking
it would take a lifetime to walk there

I write
In the hope to inspire
what difference one man can make
Maybe
If I do not conspire
what I see to imitate
that I will win my family
by enduring their sad deeds
that I can overcome myself
by avoiding this greed
If I can hold my anger
one day I'll finally see

that land I only see within my dreams

There is nothing less fulfilling than trying to mold ourselves to fit someone else's vision of us...I think we, as individuals, should always strive for change. It is after all, in our best interests to continue to evolve. Being comfortable with who we are at the heart of it is key, but we must not forget we are all a work in progress, and that is a lifetime commitment.

When we do right by ourselves, we do right by others, and that is how we truly benefit mankind.

Wonderful, thought-provoking piece Archie.
