This Road I Walk

Topic: Lifepoems

This Road I walk

Walking down a long and narrow road
sun beating down, and breeze blowing through my hair.
I have been walking for what seems forever
and it feels as if I have gone nowhere.

Very hot and dusty
even with wind blowing the slightest breeze.
If only someone would offer me a ride
in a second, I would say please.

Many miles I have drifted
walking through yet another state.
It feels like my feet have blisters
this is a feeling that I hate.

Down on my luck
lost my job, my family and then my home.
Everything is upside down
it has made me change my tone

Very little money in my pocket
i cleaned my bank account for every last cent.
I even asked the Lord where I went wrong
and if I had sins for which I need to repent.

I am still walking
not much further did I go.
As I share with you my thoughts
about things that make you go woe.

Really getting weary
tired from walking down this road.
My body and feet are aching
slowly losing my walking mode.

From riches to rags
in what seems like only a day.
I didn't see it coming,
and now i'm on my way.

In my mind
are thoughts about all I have lost.
Losing my job, my family and my house
was a very high cost.

The chips are down
but life for me doesn’t stop here.
I will find a new job, a new home
and get back my family that is so dear!

If you find yourself walking
down a road that is narrow, dusty and long.
You too, might find yourself
thinking and thinking of where you went wrong!

When I read this poem, I felt like I was this person. I could feel the hurt and pain that was written in your poem. My feet actually hurt. And at the end I could feel the drive and triumph that was going to turn his life around.
You write such beautiful poetry and I absolutely love reading it. I hope one day your poems will be published because I would love to have a book of your poetry.
Keep up the GREAT work.

Jackie

Great imagination! This could very well be me. Even though this may be fictional, you wrote with great realism. That's great writing.

Thank you,

Tim

I have been in this place several times in my life for different reasons. I always made it back somehow . God helped me each time I am sure .My efforts are what got me there.in the first place and they were unable to get me out of the situations once everything fell apart. It can happen really fast if we take our blessings for granted. I think this is well written and it tells the tale with good imagery .It is a very real subject that many people think they will never have to deal with. I think this is why so many people take losing everything so hard and even end their lives when it happens to them . I know it will only make you stronger if you survive it and you will learn to be grateful for what God has provided for you in your life . It is true what they say though , Pride Comes Before a Fall.

That was a good poem. I can relate. I have gone down the same road before. As I was walking, someone picked me up and led me down the right road. Thank you for the inspiration.
