A Mother's Love

Contributed by Action567 on Wednesday, 13th June 2012 @ 09:06:23 PM in AEST
Topic: Patriotic

She goes upstairs to his room
And sits gently on his bed
She touches his pillow
Where he has laid his head.

She looks about the room
And pictures him there
She sees his brush and comb
That he has used on his hair.

She sits at his computer
And leans back in his chair
Faintly she can still smell
His cologne lingering in the air.

She moves about his room
Touching little things here and there
She puts everything back in place
With such gentle care.

Everything is so quiet
Not a sound does she hear
She tenderly wipes away
One of many tears.

She comes to his room
When she needs to cry
No one else could understand this
No matter how hard they try.

This is her way
To still stay close
On those hard days
When she misses him the most.

She misses his loud music
And him running in and out
Be right back and I Love You Mom
He would turn around and shout.

He got called to serve his country
So off to Iraq he had to go
She can't wait till he returns
She misses him so.

She tries very hard not to think
Of the things he may have to do
She has to remember
He's there fighting for me and you.

She knows in her heart
That he won't come back the same boy
But no matter what
He will always be - Her Pride and Joy.

A grown man
Will return in his place
With several hard years
Etched upon his face

His boyhood innocence
He will never get back
It was replaced with strength and courage
And those he will never lack.

How brave he is
To go so far away
To fight for his country
And the American Way.

We will probably never know
What all he has been thru
While he was in Iraq
Protecting the Red, White and Blue.

She closes her eyes and bows her head
And silently begins to pray
She thanks God daily
For watching over him each and everyday.

She goes back downstairs
Because her life must go on
She and his Dad will have to patiently wait
Until their Marine safely returns back home.

A well written and touching verse.
I always have known and believed that behind each one of our soldiers serving, is their family serving as well. The sacrifice is great. Thank him for his service, and thank you!!

Keep up the good work. From a veteran of the United States Army, I thank you for writing that poem. I served in the first iraq war and thank God every day, that I was able to make it back home to my family.

Thanks again

wayne
