A Thousand Bells

I sometimes find myself in moods I cannot express.
But happiness is what I want to explore.
I find it impossible, surrounded by stress.
With myself, I am at war.
What are these emotions?
Are they yours or are they mine?
My mind and heart are notions,
Ideas, vague, unable to shine.
No one questions why they feel, the way they do.
They just embrace what their mind tells.
This is why I’m different, and singular, too.
When emotions flow, I hear a thousand bells.
Instead of feeling, I just go numb.
The bells feel like pins and needles.
Having too much, numbness is scum.
I always give in, after it wheedles.
It swarms over me, like an awesome wave.
It feels phenomenal, to feel nothing.
It ultimately turns to a crave.
All I desire, is that one thing.
It’s sad to say that it is incredible.
Numbness, just like the ones locked away in cells.
Over time, it is credible.
Numbness, loud as a thousand bells.

Excellent poem, I especially like the final line.
To explain emotional stress is a diffiicult task in a poem. You do a fine job with the metaphor of the bells..
take care
