The Rogue

He stands, battle scared
Eyes of emerald
Hair like ravens wing
A wicked smile on sensual lips
A rogue
He bows to no one
He offers nothing
but whispers of empty promises
Not honour bound
Nor knightly grace
He takes without thought or consequence
And walks his own path
With sword arm strong
and justice true
Pity me not, my captured heart
For he stirs the fires with heated glance and draws you in for more
My rogue
Who rests uneasily beside me
Haunted By demons unknown
With no past, and future untold
he stirs, and whispers
"I belong to no one
I have tasted love once and it left only bitterness"
I realize then, he has chosen his path
he was not mine
Like the lone wolf, he would drift through life.
Lost in the shadows.
He left before dawn
Galloping into the morning mists
And my heart ached
For the rogue,
who's blood would someday
spill on a lonely battlefield.

That was one of the best poems I have ever read. Very well written. |
