Child Soldier

Contributed by northernlights on Monday, 28th May 2012 @ 10:58:05 AM in AEST
Topic: war

Was it the choice of the innocent that the devil gave them his cards

To deal at random? Was it their choice when their young eyes were trained

Away from the deserved path of safety and security? To be dried in dust.

To obey the fear, and to take life as they had their life taken from them.

Who unleashes a monster without first having moulded them from their

Failure,Failure as a human being, faults that deepen and widen swallowing
Life and spitting it back, empty!.

Eyes of hunger never full.

A soul empty with only rage enacted in the footprints stamped across a mind
That will chase the shadows of peace for all their days
.
A man’s face in the mirror, a child’s life sacrificed, divided by a river of torment
That rises whenever the two come close, and there becomes a face

Of two halves one the victim and one the perpetrator not a choice just the outcome
Of inevitability melding into one.

Great poem.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
