Silence

A Trappist monk's eternal state.
A contradiction in itself?
A intricate enigma.
An entertainer's Hiroshima.
Forgotten lines...it's destrcutive.
But a well-timed pause,
can be, constructive.
A squeal of breaks, a dull thud.
Then, nothing,
Unitl,
a cacophony of horror erupts from the bowels of Hell.
Respite from musac, idle chit-chat, and persistent questioning,
At times it seems impossible to attain,
We crave it most, when its absence is most.
A last gasp of air.
A void. A vacuum.
An emptiness.
Silence- friend
or foe?

Hi, I ejoyed the poem, but still - you should edit some typos - Unitl, destrcutive. I also think last stanza might be redundant (at least I wouldnt repeat the word silence again, since it is in the title and the reader already knows you are talking about it - I think it would make the poem stronger, think about it :) |
