Expectations

Contributed by northernlights on Saturday, 19th May 2012 @ 03:10:38 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Life’s warm embrace, not from those of my native tongue but

From those whose journey began from distant shores,
warmer climes.

Warmth of spirit, warmth of heart.a welcome embrace, arms wide

Open with no thought of agenda, feet that know what it is like to

Walk with no shoes, feet that know how to dance in the face of

Adversity, hearts that know the bond of family, spirits that awaken

To the richness of learning, of the hunger to move forward.

Acceptance being joy that in full expectation is at first sought after, from

Those the mind tells you should be there for you, searching is

The journey that never finds what is expected, and then the unexpected

Happens in directions you never thought would bring fulfilment.

And much as I want to control the paths, predict the behaviour and find

The assurance in knowing the person, life takes all that is sure, all that you

Think you know, the perfections and the imperfections,

and you learn.

Expect the unexpected for better or worse. The outcome may be surprising. Good writing. Keep it up.

Hi Anna,

We're all on a journey - lessons learned,
lessons missed, lessons ignored. And we
should never put people/ethnicities into the
small packages that we might think they
belong to. If I may quote John Masefield, one
of my favourite poets .................

''I have seen flowers grow in stony places,
and kind deeds done by men with ugly faces,
and the gold cup won by the worst horse at
the races ....
so I trust, too.''

A fine write, Anna, with lots to think about.

Tommy
