This World of Ice and Shadow

Contributed by Noonetwothree on Friday, 18th May 2012 @ 02:10:35 AM in AEST
Topic: anguished

Trapped in this world of ice,
my thoughts,
embroidered by the shadows of,
my sorrow.

Lost,
in the snow,
who blinds,
who stings,
his host.

The wind,
his cruel apprentice,
howls in callous imitation,
of my pain.

The mountains,
ridges like teeth,
grin wickedly,
at their captive.

Very good poem with excellent metaphors. Depression is a hard road, with many branches, getting out of it could be like coming home to warmth and light. I know, I too was on it.

take care

You made this poem alive, with your sorrow, and isolation. I understand how depression can be, and getting back up from it can leave you as enthusiastic to life as a new-born child. Try to remember, when you are in a state of darkness, that there is blinding rays of light to guide you to a better tomorrow. Great poem, and best wishes :-)

Been there. Hard , sometimes impossible , to describe this world we live in. Few understand it... most are'nt shy about talking down to those of us who have it like we are somehow weak or stupid. Got news for them... most depressed people tend to be of above average intelligence. Many of those talking down to us would'nt survive a week , if a day , in this world. Pills are a joke. Change your diet. I'm not kidding. Eating lots of fish and bananas can change you brain chemistry. I've done it and I feel much better on average. Take your pain and use it as fuel to drive you. Best wishes , your not alone in this dark place. truly , doug
