They told me to shoot for the moon
What if I miss?
Well, you’ll land among the stars
It was logical and reasonable
Subjectively testable
I aimed for the moon
And ran into the sun
Blinded I was not
I saw spots in the forefront
Launched back to earth
I spiraled into torment
I sunk to the bottom
Back in the hole
I can’t reach my rope
Returning to dirt
I can’t do this again
I feel like a troll
Was this all an illusion?
Was my feat a fake?
I care so much
Yet not at all
I feel so tiny
Invisible
I’m 20 feet tall

You sure sound like a poet to me.
Liked this one a little better than 'full'.
Seemed to hang together more.
but poetry is in the eye of the reader
and this one likes your effort.

Your poem describes the plight of many a dreamer. I was one. I also shot for the moon and landed in crap. I've since learned that it's not a bad thing to... reach for the moon as long as one keeps one's feet planted on good solid ground... just in case. Best wishes to you . truly , doug |
