why is it we find ourselves
trying to stand our ground
it seems so meaningless
with no one around

I found confused emotions
some had laughter most had pain
the pain in my legs
says it might be gonna rain

at least that's what they say
as for me I'm not that sure
I think it comes with age
& a past that is impure

The old folks they tell me
the pain will go away
now thats what I keep waiting for
up to this very day

well it is what it is
& that's what it will be
I'm happy just knowing
I'm still me

nothing seems to change that
no matter what's in store
I'll be okay just knowing
I'm me forever more
the hot shot poet
