Hot latino sweat flies across stage, each and every drop the
DNA of years of discipline, pain, the definition of dance,
A gift to the eyes with a price to be paid.No longer their
Flesh and bones but given to the asking of the drum, calling
Of the voice, answering without question, giving of the self
So that the sacrifice commands ovation and rapturous applause.
Diva for the few whom with Nature’s blessing bleed the most,
Driven and hungry.Strength and power in the humility of the
Troop who synchronise and ebb and flow in the creative tide of the
Unsung choreographer. And the Diva smiles for their wish is your capture!
That on leaving their centre stage we will remember only they, and we bathe in
the shades of
Life enacted,in chapters of expression, and mixing pots of excitement, passion
And sensuality and time in its necessary brutality brings the curtain down.

Never been into ballet a lot but have always had a deep respect for those that do it and those are for the reasons you so eloquently write about.
They do indeed make it look like they could in fact climb that trellis with ease, do they not? :p
Thank you,
Tim |

My sister was a ballerina, and I truly do not understand the mindset of going through so much just to entertain.
If you haven't seen the movie Black Swan, it really captures the pressure that dancers feel, and the competitiveness of the sport. |

I was a young opera singer and actress many years ago, and we had to hop after the ballerinas - just for training to keep te bodies in excellent shape. It mattered not if we ended on the rear with the Wheel" , only the trainng to profit the body mattered. Howewver I learned so much about dancers and their sacrifices.and heartaches.
You say it so well Great job. Bless you.
