Common Man

Contributed by The_Phantom on Sunday, 29th April 2012 @ 12:54:19 PM in AEST
Topic: Patriotic

For every end, there is a beginning,
For every death, there is a new life,
For every heartbreak, there is new love,
For every wrong there is a right,

I am just a common man, I put on my uniform and I protect this land,
I'm no hero, I do what is asked,
I don't make a lot of money, there are bills that I can't pay,
I just wake up every morning, and serve my Country everyday,

I've seen the face of war, I've done some bad things,
I've taken a man's life, I've safe a child from a firefight,
I've wore blood stained ACUs, compliments of an IED,
I've lost battle buddies, I’ve seen the fallen carried home in a box,

I’ll die for, but I don’t know you,
I’ll fight for you, so you don’t have too,
I’m a soldier, I’m a veteran,
I’m no super hero, I’m just a common man.

Forever Faithful
The Phantom

Wow friend,
It's so special to see something new from you.
What makes you my hero is your touching heart and your written word. Also the love for your family. I know how the family has to sacrifice
while you are away, not just like money problems but your time away on holidays and birthdays. I know you are my hero cause of the sacrifices the whole family and you make. You know you have always been one of my heroes. Your family's are heroes too.
Great write friend.
Luv, huggs, blessings, all good things,
emy

I apologize but I must disagree or possibly we are all common men. However, you are a hero. I am sure what you have done is no easy task and this to me makes a hero. Should heroes be idolized? No. But the love and respect should be there.

Oh and excellent writing!

I hope you are better. Be well.

Tim
