When Worlds Collide

Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Shadows of the things you’ve known,
You’ve only memories left inside,
You’re not quite sure which world is home,
This is what happens when worlds collide.

You step onto the airplane from,
A land of dust, of poverty,
Then you step off and it feels all wrong,
Though they call it land of opportunity.

You know this isn’t the way it should be,
Though your heart is still beating you feel like you’ve died,
Why has God planned this for me?
When he knew it would make my worlds collide?

Crying yourself to sleep at night,
You’re not alone, others understand,
But even we can’t walk with you,
You’re all alone in this strange land.

The water is closing above your head,
You’re being pulled under by the tide,
You fight though you’re heart now feels like lead,
Is this always what happens when worlds collide?

I’ll never forget, you tell yourself,
You say the words to others, too,
But you know this part of your life is done,
They will all move on. BUT… so will you.

The pain will never be really gone,
But God will lessen the ache with time,
As you did before, you WILL find a place,
Wherever you are you will learn to shine.

That world will never be completely gone,
There will always be a piece inside,
But God will help you to move on,
This is what happens, after worlds collide.

I only had this happen to me once in my childhood, but it was devastating. I feel for all the children that have to deal with this on a regular basis. Some say that it makes you stronger, but it also makes it very hard to have a happy childhood.

I remember my own move in grade school. I remember being the new kid who every local loudmouth bully targeted. Yes it is very difficult to be uprooted but we get through it just as you said. great writing , truly , doug
