THE JOURNEY THROUGH...

Topic: DarkPoetry

he Demons of my past,
They ride heavy, they ride fast.
They wait till it's all right,
Then start putting up a fight.

Will the day light dawn for me?
Will the Devil set me free?
Or is it all just bound,
To come tumbling to the ground?

So tell me is it true,
Am I me, or am I you?
Can you see what's in my eyes?
Burning bright, I can't disguise!

So I let it reign,
To wash away the pain,
While I'm circling the drain,
That has become my life.
And I stand alone,
In the darkness that I've known,
And rage against my own,
like a seething putrid knife.

But I'm all right!
Yes, I'm all right.
Oh, I'm all right?
Please, tell me that I'm all right...

These mem'ries fade to dust,
Be they loving, or just lust.
And soon become the pyre,
For my lonely funeral fire.

With bridges set a blaze,
I just wander through the haze.
Till there's nothing left of me,
Or the darkness that I see.

Don't look at me, I'm here.
You can't see, and I don't care.
My name burns across the skies,
Anonymity in lies.

So I let it reign,
To wash away the pain,
Till I call to it again,
To take all it can give.
For I stand alone,
Knowing only what I'm shown,
I rage against the known,
Am I allowed to live?

But I'm all right!
Yes, I'm all right.
Oh, I'm all right?
Please, tell me that I'm all right...

Now the script, it reads, “The End”.
No more actors does he send.
No more pages will be penned.
There's no more time for me.
But with all the players gone,
I feel comfort, is that wrong?
So I sing the final song,
And what would be won't be.

Cause it's past the curtains call,
And the lights begin to fall.
While pictures in the hall,
Come crashing to the floor.
And the ghosts of days gone by,
Fill the aisles as I cry,
Out to God and ask him why,
Did he unlock that door.

But no answer comes to me,
And I think it's plane to see,
That I'll never be set free,
From all these chains I wear.
So I wander through the night,
Never trusting in my sight,
When even shadows play with light,
Until my past's laid bare.

It's so very cold out here,
Too late it all came clear,
That it's nothing more then fear,
The life that I've passed through.
But what I see within my eyes,
Is no fear and no surprise,
As my soul cries out and dies,
Tied in knots I can't undo.

So I let it rain,
To wash away its stain,
Cause in death there's no pain,
No memories or shame.
Cause I stood alone,
For so much I must atone,
Like dancing the unknown,
A Grey portrait with no frame.

But I'm all right!
Yes, I'm all right.
Oh, I'm all right?
Please, tell me that I'm all right...

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
