Above The Water

Contributed by Archie on Thursday, 19th April 2012 @ 05:48:30 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

How far we've come,
from the place where scoffers go
and dreams are broken everyday

How far we've come,
to a place where we are sobered
by the things we hope and pray

I was dying in the water
and I could not pull me out

I was wrestling with my feelings
in a place of fear and doubt

I had floated down the river
like a dead unmoving trout

sinking in the waters of despair

How far we've come,
On a journey never ending
and a place we've never been

How far we've come,
Our head's above the water
but the water still gets in

Do we drown within our troubles
Do we strive to try again

Do we remember the sorrows
Do we help our brother'n

I know not of the morrow
I have hope from deep within

where I excuses fade within an endless sea

I could go on forever
but you know just what I mean

Keep your head above the waters

Don't give up

Continue to dream

I especially like this bit:

How far we've come,
to a place where we are sobered
by the things we hope and pray
