FAMILY REUNION

Hopscotch on the sidewalk.
Horse shoes in the grass.
Little ones running in circles,
Saying "look at me, I'm fast."
Pool table in the garage.
Shuffleboard in driveway.
Old men playing checkers,
Saying "king me sometime today!"
Baseball mitts for football.
Somehow they made it work.
A wading pool for the kiddies,
Wearing Spongebob suits and shirts.
A hot tub for the aching bones,
And later a fun hay ride.
Then food on a picnic table,
No one wants to go inside.
But grandma does it anyway.
She needs a rocking chair.
I asked if she'd like a motorcycle ride.
Over top of her glasses she just stared.
And then it's time for birthday cake,
In honor of everyone there.
We talk of our next reunion,
Not sure of when or where.
It takes a lot of planning.
But goodbyes are the hardest part.
So till then we'll keep these memories
Tucked away inside our heart.
