TIME TRAVELER'S ADVENTURES #16

The best mechanics in the world had taken an interest in me.
To be precise it truly was their interest in my time machine.
After months of fiddling around a statement was made to me.
"Now you can set time pretty close to go where you'd like to be."

I charged my I-Phone camera, putting it in a case upon my hip.
I set the gears on a specific date, and I was ready to begin my trip.
I said goodbye to my friends there, and turned the starter key.
Everyone wondered how close I’d get, and I was about to see.

I ended up in Canaan, several thousand years ago.
Landing in the cover of the wood line, I started to walk quite slow.
I saw ten men out in a field all tending to their sheep.
When a young boy walked out to them, carrying food and drink.

I heard them yell "Hey Joseph, where did you get that coat?"
Joseph said "Daddy made  it for me,” a brother yelled "get some rope!"
I snapped a photo of that boy, and the garment that he wore.
Then slid behind some bushes, it was the photo I had come for.

I heard a baby crying, I supposed it was Benjamin.
Sinful acts were unfolding, toward Joseph by his brothers then.
They tore his coat and dipped it in blood because of jealousy.
Then threw Joseph in a dry well, lying to Jacob about their deed.

Although it seemed a tragedy to have happened to such a boy,
God used it to save His people, where in Egypt they all found joy.
I don't want to spoil the story, you can find in God's Word today.
I am going home to produce some coats like Josephs for kids at play.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
