To Dionysos

I will use an extended metaphor
A clever device chosen to disguise
true meanings
I will speak in verse
Hoping that only the chosen ones
will trully understand
And yet I will not lie
I drink and I get dizzy
I am filled with every sound
and sight and smell
Every touch excites me
The taste consumes me
And yet I am consuming taste
I walk
But rather, I stumble
And every step is an adventure
Because I am filled
and frenzied with the drink
I slowly learn my limits
I can only sip a little
of the sacred liquid at once
And when it's filled me
and changed me,
and once I stumble
and regain my balance,
I am ready for another taste
But when finally the trance of drink
has left me,
and I have a minute to recooperate
Insightfully I think of my adventures
and learn and prepare for next time.
