Victims of 911

Contributed by Angel_J_777 on Saturday, 14th April 2012 @ 12:18:22 PM in AEST

Alone and awake
in silence
thinking
of the violence

thinking
of what I'd do
to the people who hurt
both me and you

they took the innocence
of our daily life
and inserted death
with one blow of his scythe

9/11, how could no one see it
the news came on
and my eyes widened
as the buildings burned tall

the horror-struck crowd
was glued to the news host
confirming planes have crashed
we wish this was a hoax

i knew you where there
and tears came down my face
i ran for my phone
located in my office space

i called you via speed dial
but your voice didn't come
i hung up and panicked
then called our son

i told him to go home
and to stay there
then your called return
and i answered with a swear

you said you were ok
but fear was in your voice
something told you it was it
so you didn't have a choice

i begged you no
i begged you please
i begged you to get out
i dropped to my knees

you said you were sorry
but you wanted to say
that you'll love me forever
for now and always

the phone went dead
and the towers fell down
time stood still
and was without sound

i close my eyes
wipe the tears while sighing
i think of you falling
i think of you dying

Even the good memories
can't compare
cause losing you
is too much to bear

Years come and go
and they still roam the Earth
they still spite and hate
as we search and search

We'll find them all
and ask them why
but even when they answer
it won't bring back goodbye

I see your picture
and caress the frame
and begin to wonder
who's really to blame

Hi:)
What can I say? You lost someone special. It hurts beyond words. I won't insult you through well meant naive wittering.
You wrote "They took the innocence of our daily life and inserted death with one blow of his scythe."
Who are they? Who takes ultimate responsibility, when we move our limbs and open our mouths? Is it not down to us to take fully informed responsibility of our own behaviour?
You wrote "I see your picture and caress the frame and begin to wonder who's really to blame"
Who do you suspect may be to blame?
Would you look towards Israel with heart washed eyes?
Your poem has sparked deep embers into life. Only a true poet can do that. Thank you for being one:)
